NAIROBI, Kenya, Jun 25 – Tecno Mobile a brand under Transsion Holdings, has launched the highly anticipated Phantom Z device.

The Phantom Z runs on the Android 4.4 Kitkat platform providing cutting edge features, geared towards optimising user experiences and positioned to compete against other comparable smartphones in the market.

The device features an array of features including a 7.9mm unibody design; a 2GB RAM that can store memory of up to 32GB and a 3030mAH battery.

Its 5.2 inch scrachproof screen makes use of the latest Amoled screen technology to ensure high pixel density and high contrast ratio.

Transsion Holdings President, George Zhu who spoke during the launch of the Phantom Z says the move is aimed at deepening its mobile phone penetration in East Africa.

“While in the process of deepening our mobile phone penetration in East Africa, we have developed a dedicated focus on driving smartphone adoption to facilitate the global information age economy,” Zhu said.

On his part Information communication and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i says Phantom Z’s entry to the market is a strong indicator that the sector is an exciting destination for new investors who are keen to exploit the economic potential of the Kenyan Market.

“The lion’s share of Kenya’s internet subscribers consume data through their mobile phones, techno mobile has played a role in enabling Kenyans access the internet through affordable hand held devices,” Matiang’i said.

Techno is present in 18 African countries with the biggest market being Nigeria which they are the number one brand.
